The year 2020, which once seemed like a too-distant future, is now two months over. And this blog has been silent that entire time. What have I been up to? Why did I quit posting every Thursday? Have I abandoned this blog or my writing career?

The year started well. I finished the royal romance I’ve been teasing and started a few new projects. I watched The L Word: Generation Q and, honey, I have thoughts. My spouse was in a car accident in late January, and we’ve been a lot of time with doctor’s appointments, the insurance company, getting a new car when hers was declared a total loss, having to get repairs on the new car, etc., etc. I’ve had some of my own health issues, too, though nothing I want to share yet. We are thankfully doing fine, but those things can be incredibly time-consuming.
I decided 2020 was going to be a year of self-love, so I’ve been taking more time for yoga, getting plenty of sleep, eating better, and giving myself permission to put work aside to spend time with my family. It’s been great, though when your job is marketing yourself, it can mean a few setbacks like losing a lot of Twitter followers.

Jane is still here, still queer, and still writing. Due to a non-writing schedule change, Thursday blog posts are getting tricky. We’ll have to see if I am technically literate enough to schedule them to post in advance, so I can keep regular updates and think-pieces coming. In the meantime, I’m living a pretty good life, and I hope you are, too.
P.S. For my friends in China, Korea, and other parts of the world where the coronavirus outbreaks have become serious, I love you and am thinking of you.
